Match the mouse to the setup you actually have
One laptop, basic tasks
The M185 makes sense if you need a simple pointer for email, homework or occasional travel. The question is whether its small shape suits you. A lower purchase price is poor value if you replace it because it feels cramped.
Work PC plus personal laptop
The M720 earns consideration when you repeatedly move a receiver or reach for another mouse. Before ordering, list how each computer will connect and check what your employer permits. If you change computers only once at the end of the day, the convenience may matter less.
USB-C-only laptop
Account for the M185's receiver: a compatible adapter or dock adds another thing to buy or carry. With the M720, check that the computer supports and permits its Bluetooth connection. Do not assume “wireless” means a mouse needs no USB port.

Popularity does not settle comfort or quality
TechGearLab’s wireless-mouse tests found the M185 capable of everyday tracking, but criticized its inexpensive feel and small size. The same comparison favored the M720's features for the money while noting some wheel movement and initial resistance from its feet. These are that publication's observations, not ours.
RTINGS’ M720 review supports its use for office work, but flags its weight and click latency for competitive gaming and notes that some large-handed users may find it small. Our takeaway: buy around the task and a return policy that lets you assess fit; a bestseller badge cannot tell you how a mouse will feel in your hand.
Switching computers and sharing files are different features
The M720's button lets you select a paired computer. Moving the pointer across a screen edge and copying files between computers uses Logitech Flow, a separate software feature. Logitech's setup instructions require Logi Options+ on both computers, pairing on different channels, and the computers connected to the same Wi-Fi or Ethernet network. On an employer-managed laptop, first ask whether the app, connection and file-transfer use are permitted. If Flow cannot be used, judge the mouse on the button switching and scrolling you can actually use. Do not pay extra on the assumption that it will bypass workplace restrictions.
When to buy something else—or nothing
- Your current mouse is comfortable: keep it unless you can name an interruption the replacement will remove.
- You mainly use your left hand: the M185's symmetrical design is the more relevant of these two; another ambidextrous or left-handed mouse may fit you better.
- You need a quiet shared room: compare a specifically quiet-click model. Neither extra buttons nor a popular ranking answers the noise question.
- You play fast competitive games: compare independently tested gaming mice instead of treating the M720 as an all-purpose upgrade.
- Two mice already work well on your desk: keeping them is a valid alternative. Choose the M720 only if consolidating them makes your routine easier.
